Alegria offers opportunities for caring volunteers like yourself to share unique skills and talents with families in need. Please contact Julie Lewis with your interest, idea and/or unique skill and we can help make your plan for service into a reality. Service can include a wide range of activities as varied as teaching a yoga class to art/music workshops. Experience the joy of giving.
After School Program Intern
Are you working towards a degree or certificate in child development, education or a related field? Are you looking to build supervised hours under an education professional in order to complete your degree? Are you willing to make a commitment of time to the youth of Alegria? After School Program Volunteer
Volunteers would assist children with homework and help staff with other activities as needed. Opportunity to help children focus on academic enrichment and recreational opportunities. The Salvation Army BLAST(Bright Learners After School Team) program is part of a licensed facility, serving 24 middle school age children residing on site in our housing program.
Skills Needed: Basic math-reading & recreational skills: Understanding of elementary education is required. Creative, interactive, artistic skills are a plus. Background in leading team activities is helpful.
Alegria hosts volunteer groups on a regular basis. From hosting special events to helping with cleaning and landscaping, volunteer groups can make a difference to the families we serve. Due to the important steps we take to schedule groups, Alegria requires a minimum of 30 days notice for any requests.

Volunteer Project: From a blooming blush to a rain-inspired lip shine, cosmetics can be a fun and inspiring way to get in touch with not only your outer beauty, but also your inner beauty.
Volunteer Role & Responsibilities: L.A. Works volunteers will engage teens and their mothers in cosmetic and nail application, beauty tips and hygienic skills for a chance at emboldening their spirits, self-confidence and self-awareness. A bit of pampering, relaxing and feminine bonding can go a long way! Come be a make-up artist and beautician for the day by creating a fun salon essence!
